Antique Chinese Red Lacquer Cabinet – Traditional Wedding-Style Cupboard

Beautiful and substantial Chinese wooden cabinet, featuring a striking distressed red lacquer finish, contrasting dark wood panels and traditional circular metal door fittings. Purchased approximately 25 years ago from a furniture dealer in Paris, this cabinet was described at the time as a 19th-century Chinese antique. Although I do not have documentation confirming its age, it has the craftsmanship, character and appearance associated with traditional Chinese furniture. Key features: Traditional Chinese wedding-style cabinet design. Substantial, heavy wooden construction. Beautiful aged red lacquer finish with natural-looking patina. Distinctive circular metal door plate with decorative handles and locking pin. Two full-height doors opening onto generous internal storage. Multiple shelves and two practical internal drawers. Contrasting dark wood interior, sides and back. Elegant proportions and a timeless, characterful appearance. Dimensions: Height: 190 cm, Width: 105 cm, Depth: 50 cm. Condition: Very good overall condition for a piece of this style and apparent age. The lacquer shows visible wear and variations in colour, contributing to its authentic vintage character. Please refer to the photographs. This is a beautiful statement piece that would work equally well in a contemporary or traditional interior, whether used as a bedroom wardrobe, living-room storage cabinet or decorative feature. Fulham, London (SW6). Please note that this is a large, heavy piece of furniture and appropriate transport will be required.
