Here is a very pretty vase which unfortunately has not survived without problems: in fact, a large chip has been glued back, hence its low price. I would very much like it to find a new, welcoming home for a few more decades, and it is possible, because on the one hand it can be displayed with its defect at the back and on the other hand the chip does not go below the middle height, so you can always put water in it halfway up. It has a beautiful "diabolo" shape and a charming chiseled plant decoration representing ears of wheat. It is made of salt stoneware with a magnificent cobalt blue glaze typical of traditional Alsatian ceramics. It is a very beautiful craftsmanship from the Krumeich-Remmy workshop in Betschdorf, signed underneath, by hand intaglio in the material "grès d'Alsace Krumeich-Remmy Betschdorf". Hubert Krumeich-Remmy joined the family pottery in 1896 and became the most important potter in Betschdorf, the capital of "grey and blue" pottery. He died in 1944 without descendants. This vase therefore dates from before 1944 because according to my research, his workshop closed with his death. It therefore has a large chip (in several pieces) which has been glued back together (not in the most beautiful way, it remains clearly visible) and the bottom has glue drips. It measures 20 cm in height, 11 cm in diameter at the base, 13 cm in diameter at the opening.
