Magnificent quinqué-style lamp (kerosene lamp) of French manufacture, from the mid-20th century. The lamp features a stepped circular base that supports a flattened spherical body. The central column is pierced with geometric motifs or "ogee" window shapes. In authentic quinqués, these openings allowed oxygen to enter to fuel the flame; here, they serve a purely aesthetic function and provide ventilation for the heat of the bulb. The upper ring has manual fastening screws to securely attach the neck of the glass shade. The main material is turned and polished brass, presenting a natural patina with an attractive mottled oxidation and signs of wear, giving it a spectacular authentic appearance. Notably, it includes a decorative side butterfly or thumb screw on the false burner, a wonderful nod to the original keys used in the 19th century to adjust the height of the cotton wick. The piece is topped with a spherical opaline white (or opalescent) glass globe. This type of glass was preferred in antique lighting because it diffuses light evenly, preventing direct glare from the bulb. Dimensions: 38 cm high and 13 cm in diameter. It will be shipped in careful and secure packaging.
