Set of 4 dining chairs "Totem" by Torstein Nilsen

Designed in Norway in the mid-1980s, the "Totem" chair exemplifies the revival of Scandinavian design in the 1980s, where more expressive lines enrich the modernist vocabulary. Despite a very graphic silhouette, the Totem chairs were designed as dining chairs. Their generously padded seat and curved backrest offer surprising comfort considering their design. The four pieces are made of black lacquered wood and upholstered in black faux leather. Presented as a set, they create a particularly strong ensemble around a contemporary, brutalist, or modernist table. Some light signs of use on the wood consistent with their age.
