This authentic antique Hamadan runner, dating to the 1920s, is a superb example of Persian village weaving. Characterised by its bold, tribal aesthetic, the rug features three primary ivory-ground diamond medallions that anchor the composition. These central motifs are surrounded by a vibrant array of stylised botanical and geometric forms, including 'tree of life' variations and angular floral sprays. The colour palette is classic and robust, dominated by a deep madder-red field that provides a striking contrast to the midnight blue borders and the crisp ivory of the medallions. Splashes of coral, sage green, and ochre add a playful complexity to the design. As is common with genuine 100-year-old village rugs, this piece exhibits a charming handmade character. The wool is high-quality and lustrous, and while the rug remains in good structural condition, it features areas of 'low pile' and minor surface wear that contribute to its authentic antique patina and floor-ready appeal.
