This unique collection comprises seven handicrafts of african origin, including passport masks, wooden sculptures and a terracotta sculpture. The masks, measuring between 12 and 18 cm in height, include a long-beaked passport mask typical of the bwa of burkina faso, used to invoke protective spirits during rituals. Another mask, with stylized horns, reflects the bambara traditions of mali, while a mask with fine features is similar to those of the dan culture of côte d’ivoire, used in initiation ceremonies and as objects of personal identification. Passport masks are small, portable masks used by certain african ethnic groups, mainly in west africa, to mark membership in a family or ethnic group and to serve as protective amulets during travel. The collection also includes two small wooden sculptures, approximately 5 to 15 cm: a stylized female figure and a carved bird. A terracotta sculpture, measuring approximately 7 cm, depicts a seated human figure, reminiscent of ancient artifacts from the nok culture of nigeria. These objects are perfect for tribal art collectors or as interior decoration items, bringing a touch of authenticity and cultural depth to any space. The pieces are in good overall condition for their age, with signs of natural wear, small cracks and an authentic patina, testifying to their traditional use and historical value.
