Very beautiful old soup bowl in white earthenware with slight bluish reflections, and a delightful vine decoration. It comes from the famous faience factory of gien. The stamp under the soup bowl was used from 1875 and was modified, many times, from 1886, which is what allows me to date this soup bowl between 1875 and 1886. It is very rare to find this model with its lid, and even rarer to find it with the handle of the lid, ring-shaped, whole, not glued! In addition to the stamp, we can read an "e" and a "2" hollow in the enamelling. For a soup bowl that is almost 150 years old, it is in very good condition: no lack, no repair. But it still has marks of its age and the patina of time: on the lid: some abrasions on the enamelling of the handle, some very small spots and marks, a scratch on the inner edge. On the soup bowl: a crack of 3 cm since on the upper edge which has generated a coloration inside (but the whole remains solid, no risk that the soup bowl breaks) as well as some small spots (including a small brown coloration at the place of a crack of the enamelling) and various marks, a little abrasion on the enamelling of the handles. The enamelling on the edge of the soup bowl as well as under the foot is a little worn and has taken on an unbleached coloration. It is 25 cm high (including the lid), with a diameter of about 22 cm. A width with handles of 26 cm. The soup bowl is 15 cm high (without the lid). The whole weighs about 1.6 kg.
