Sculptural Amber Ceramic Space Age Vase, Italy 1970

This vase captures the sculptural, forward-looking spirit of 1970s design. Two vertical arms of unequal height rise from a rounded, U-shaped base, each ending in a triangular opening — a form that is at once geometric and organic. The ceramic is finished in a glossy amber-to-ochre glaze with a rich, mottled surface that shifts from honey to burnt orange. Openings at the top of each arm hold flowers or single stems, though it is just as striking empty, as pure sculpture. Seen from different angles it reads in turn as a 'U', a 'J' and a leaning, dynamic silhouette.
