1995 Modern "Winter Blue" Swedish Abstract Modernist Landscape Oil Painting, Framed

A really striking abstract modernist composition in oil, painted in 1995. The artist has used broad, expressive and gestural brushwork to depict this composition, using a colour palette that captures the very essence of the cold icy landscape of winter. There is a palpable sense of movement and rhythm within the work – we can imagine the artist’s hand working back and forth, creating a myriad of marks and strokes on the paper. The colours used are also fascinating to explore – as we look closely at the work, a multitude of colours that appear through the layers of paint begin to show themselves. This oil is protected behind glass and as such, getting close up photos of the textures and depth proved tricky. The painting has wonderful areas of impasto (where the paint is applied so thickly that it stands proud from the surface), and a whole range of textural details. This oil is housed in a white frame and is protected behind glass. Please not that some reflection of the glass is evident in the photographs. The painting has a very small area of surface paint loss when viewed close up, but due to the expressive style and colours of the piece this loss is not very noticeable. It is otherwise in a good and stable condition. The frame has some minor scuffs, commensurate with age. Size: 40 X 50 cm (including frame).
