Mid-Century German Space Age side table by Knut Hesterberg for Ronald Schmitt, 1960s

Sculptural coffee table by the renowned manufacturer Ronald Schmitt, based on a design by Knut Hesterberg from the 1960s. Hesterberg's profession as a sculptor is also reflected in his furniture creations. His tables are particularly characterised by their sculptural frames. He exploits the possibilities of aluminium in the design. This is especially evident in the execution of the table leg with the finely crafted connection of the two rings of the frame. The round top rests on the upper ring. The lower part of the leg is also dissolved into a ring in a manner analogous to the upper part.
