Tulip-shaped vase dating from the 50s in cast glass from the luxval range from the famous val-saint-lambert crystal works. The val-saint-lambert crystal works were created in 1826 on the site of a former abbey in seraing, near liège, belgium. World-renowned, they experienced intense and high quality production. In the early 1930s, the consequences of the wall street crash were felt on the world economy, and also affected the val-saint-lambert factory. Cut crystal objects, more expensive to make, sell less well. Thus, in order to satisfy these many customers, and under the influence of rené delvenne and charles graffart, the luxval line is launched. Although molded glass objects were already present in many previous catalogues (as early as 1904), and some art deco pieces, also in molded glass, were already produced as early as 1925, the first pricing list of the luxval range was issued on april 15, 1934. The purely art deco luxval line continued to be produced until the 1950s.
