Pair of Safari Congo Chairs designed by Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara and produced by Hagafors Stolfabrik AB around 1954. Made of black lacquered wood, these chairs stand out for their very graphic lines and their ingenious two-piece construction system. The two chairs are matching and in generally good condition. They show a beautiful patina and signs of use, particularly at the contact points related to the nesting system - almost invisible once the chair is assembled, as well as some marks on the seats. The main defects are visible in the photographs. Purchased at an auction house. Documentation regarding their acquisition can be provided. Dimensions of each chair: 83 × 57 × 82 cm.
