Abstract painting 1985 Jack Friling - oil on canvas

Magnificent oil on canvas by the painter Jack Friling (Drammen 1927 - Florence 2000). Depicting a horse's head, with rich, textured colors. Dimensions: 70 X 50 cm. An inscription dated 1985 is present on the back. The artist, Jack Friling, was a Florentine painter originally from Drammen, Norway. He received his early training in Oslo under Professor Bjarne Enghebreth (1946-1947) and at the Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Per Kroch (1949-1952). After settling in Florence, Italy, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Ottone Rosai from 1955 to 1957. He also studied painting and sculpture in France and Spain. His first solo exhibition in Florence took place in 1954 at the Galleria Numero, where he was met with great success and was invited to another solo exhibition at the Long Wharf Studios in Boston the following year. He subsequently participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, and in January 1959, he held a highly successful solo exhibition in Milan. Today, his works are held in private collections in Italy and abroad.
