This oak workbench, made by a cabinetmaker in the 1950s for his own needs, combines artisanal robustness with modernist simplicity. Its low, stocky silhouette and natural golden patina make it a characterful island that is both functional and aesthetic. Materials: Made from oak (solid and veneer) and pine (on the back), this piece features a beautiful visible grain and careful joints at the corners, testament to solid artisanal craftsmanship designed to last. Features: This workbench is organised around four cascading drawers on the left side, equipped with geometric wooden handles carved from solid wood, and a large drawer with the same handle, along with a closed cupboard on the right side with a brushed metal knob from the same era. The thick, flat top, slightly overhanging, provides a generous work surface. Renovation: The piece has undergone some repairs. It has also been fully sanded, washed, and then lightly stained and protected with a clear matte varnish. Dimensions: L155 X D79.5 X H85. Small drawers: L36.5 X H13. Large drawer: L91 X H8. Cupboard: L102 X D71 X H57. Spacing between the shelves from top to bottom: 30-24. A rare and versatile piece, this workbench naturally finds its place in a kitchen as a central island, in a shop as a counter or storage unit, or in a large living space. An object with a history, ready for a second life.
