Pencil, pen and watercolor drawing from the early 19th century representing a hussar of the imperial guard under the 1st empire in france led by napoleon I. The wooden frame with gilded molding is original. At the bottom of the drawing is written 1st empire and a number, difficult to decipher. Very beautiful old military watercolor, the rider is a hussar recognizable by his mustache, cadenettes and hair braided with lead balls used to protect him from saber blows. We feel the nervousness of the horse and the fury of the soldier in battle. In good condition despite foxing on the paper and some losses in the golden frieze which frames the drawing. This does not detract from the strength of this work. Height: 27.5cm/10.8" width: 23cm/9" weight: 450 grams.
