Description. This piece of furniture is an authentic American cylinder desk (often called a roll-top desk), made of solid oak. It is a classic piece of office furniture, particularly popular between the late 19th century and the 1930s/1940s. Here are its main features: The sliding curtain (cylinder): Made of thin wooden slats glued onto a flexible canvas, it slides along the curved side grooves to close or open the workspace.
