China pair of 19th century dignitary armchairs. Two old Chinese armchairs called "guanmaoyi" (in scholar's cap), forming a pair in solid elm. These seats of traditional Chinese furniture come from the province of Shanxi. China Qing period - 19th century. The curved upper crossbar with rounded ends, the s-shaped backrest, the armrests and their very curved uprights, the apron with canework in excellent condition, the legs connected by a footrest at the front and crossbars on the other sides. Minimal scratches and chips, in superb condition for their age! Seat height 53cm.
