Pair of Art Nouveau bentwood chairs attributed to Koloman Moser for Jacob and Josef Kohn, dating from 1890 to 1910. Manufactured in Austria by the Viennese firm of Jacob & Josef Kohn, a pioneer of bentwood furniture and a competitor of Thonet in the late 19th century. Around 1900, the collaboration with designer Koloman Moser, co-founder of the Vienna Secession, gave rise to modern furniture, combining geometric rigor, ornamental refinement, and technical innovation. Kohn-Moser furniture is distinguished by its minimalist elegance, prefiguring 20th-century design. These pieces are highly sought after today for their artistic and historical value, at the crossroads of Art Nouveau and the avant-garde.
