Karl blossfeldt, the plant. Rotogravures: plate 51. Sheet of +- 24 X 30cm The plate comes from an (incomplete) book of the first edition of "the plant" published in 1928 and printed by ganymed, (berlin) The printing technique is rotogravure. This is an ancient process invented in 1824 by nicéphore and claude niépce. This process allows photographic prints of very high quality both in the precision and in the depth of the blacks.
