The Hug contemporary barstool is designed with a light aesthetic; the slight oscillation of the 12 mm steel rod is complemented by the flexibility of the double 3.5 mm thick leather. When sitting on this furniture, you feel an enveloping sensation, as if being hugged, since the weight of the body is distributed evenly. Each unit becomes a refuge of visual and ergonomic wellbeing. Our Hug Collection is inspired by the organic lines of a landscape; the curves of nature and the imaginary silhouette of the wind inspire this collection of organic forms, almost like metallic sculptures. All pieces are made with cold-bent steel rods, polished, nickel-plated, coloured by electrolysis, and lacquered. The process of polishing and lacquering the steel goes through a manual and delicate chroming process, which gives it a final and unique metal colour finish. This precise technique provides a uniform metallic finish of a minimum of 50 microns over the entire surface. Our metal finishing has successfully passed a corrosion resistance test in a salt spray chamber according to UNE-EN ISO 9227: 2017 and UNE-EN ISO 1456: 2010. Our signature screws are made from brass, turned, polished, and lacquered; these are the pieces that fix the saddle leather to the metal frame. The leathers are Spanish hides, vegetable-tanned. We use premium saddles in multiple colours to suit your taste and interior needs. This traditional vegetable dyeing and tanning method is an organic technique that relies on natural tannins from bark or plant tissues. The use of oils and natural fats gives the leather a distinctive flexibility and texture, allowing it to be moulded, retain its shape, and age gracefully. All skins are carefully selected from the food industry, with a minimum thickness of 3.5 mm / 0.02 in, using the part of the animal's shoulder, which allows for larger pieces and uniformity, even though the signature wrinkle from the animal’s neck may be recognisable. The vegetable tanning is a traditional and artisan treatment that is respectful of the environment. Even with careful selection, natural marks resulting from contact with other animals, the age, origin, and characteristics of the skin, or even the season in which the tanning takes place cannot be avoided. We still believe that these factors only add authenticity and uniqueness to every piece. Our leather parts are made with double saddles, always showing the top side of the hides that present the best quality. **Customisation options.** With the aim of creating customised pieces, clients can select from various metal finishes and leather colours to create pieces that complement their home décor. Available leather colours include black, navy, dark brown, cognac, and natural tobacco, while polished steel finishes available are aged brass, black smoke, and aged silver. Normally, we use tone-on-tone threads for stitches, but clients can select a contrast option, allowing any colour to be chosen to create a unique piece for the project it belongs to. The finish on the edges of our leather components is sanded and hand-painted. We offer the option to select an alternative colour if a tone-on-tone finish is not applied. Please consult us if you are interested in having a particular heat embossing stamp on the leather with your own branding.
