Period: ca. 1897 and 1921. This vase is made with the cloisonné enamel technique on a bronze/copper base, where the colored enamels are placed in patterns made by metal filaments that were previously shaped and placed on a copper/bronze body. Here the main color is a red with orange shades. It is adorned with floral decorations in blue, white and yellow with green leaves. The lid and shoulder of the pot both have a turquoise ruyie border. Ruyie is a ubiquitous chinese motif symbolizing power, peace and happiness. The inside of the lid and the pot are covered with turquoise enamel. This vase has been appraised as being from the guangxu period (1871-1908); emperor guangxu was the tenth and penultimate emperor of the qing dynasty which ended in 1911. The base of the vase is marked "china" and it is documented that partitioned items intended for export between 1897 and 1921 have this indication (after 1921 this becomes "made in china" or labels). Status: good. No damage. Dimensions: 23 cm high, 16 cm wide, 0.56 kg.
