Memphis "flying carpet" armchair by Simon Desanta & Dorothy Hafner 1983

Rare German postmodern design lounge chair "flying carpet" designed by Simon Desanta with fabric by Dorothy Hafner, Rosenthal manufacturer, Germany 1983. This cantilever chair with a steel frame and metal base is a typical "Memphis" style chair. Labeled with the designer and manufacturer on the base, also signed on the fabric. Stunning sculptural design. And large-scale chair. The chair features a heavy steel base and frame in blue, and a soft, removable seat cover with a typical 1980s abstract decoration in turquoise blue, white and black. The backrest is pink. The chair has an attribution mark engraved in the base, as well as the signature of the fabric designer Dorothy Hafner on the cover of the chair. The chair is very stable and comfortable to sit on, perfect for lounging. The frame is in excellent condition, the fabric has some wear and tear but remains in good condition for its age (please see detailed photos). Dimensions: Width 140 cm/55.10". Depth 130 cm/51.20".
