Nightstand / bedside table with two drawers in Louis XVI style, of French origin, dating from the late 18th century (circa 1780-1800), never restored. Can be picked up in person in Versailles, St Nom La Bretèche (78860) or Issy Les Moulineaux. I can deliver it to the foot of your house or building for 40 euros if you live in departments 75, 78 or 92, and for 50 euros for departments 91 or 95. Dimensions: 60.5 X 38.5 cm, height 81 cm. Furniture made of walnut wood, with two stacked drawers featuring a slightly curved front, a key, and functional locks. The locks and handles are finely chiselled in bronze or wrought iron, with a decoration of foliage and ribbons — typical of the Louis XVI/Directoire period. The internal lock mechanism is handcrafted wrought iron, clearly of the period, and the drawer guides are made of flat forged iron, fixed by hand. The structural wood (back, inside of the drawers, rear case) is oak or poplar, commonly used for secondary parts at the time. The legs are tapered and conical, typical of the Louis XVI style, the case is made of solid wood, with a sturdy old-fashioned construction, and the top is slightly overhanging with a rounded moulding. There are traces of splintered wood and missing varnish, as well as old woodworm holes. An authentic, original small accent piece, ideal for renovation.
