Large persian carpet varamin (iran region of tehran circa 1975). Prussian blue field with geometrically stylized turtle shells surrounded by bulbs and flower palmettes and stylized polychromy foliage. Five borders including the main old pink and ruby decoration reminiscent of the central field. Very good condition. 309 X 208 cm. Quality lambskin velvet on cotton foundations. Density of about 7000 knots at dm2. Note the change of natural wool in the top border.
