A very beautiful and rare set of five Calais earthenware plates dating from the second half of the 19th century. Beautiful romantic decoration depicting a gallant couple, a large bowl of flowers, and angels, printed in underglaze blue, with a crackled glaze. "Calais" stamped on each plate. Diameter: 20 cm. Height: 2 cm. Good overall condition, minor firing defects, one with a chip under the rim, see photos.
