Black industrial high work stool by rowac/bemefa from the late 1940s. "rowac", founded in 1888 by robert wagner as an ironworks, the name originated from the first letters of the founder's first and second name, along with the first letter of the town, chemnitz in saxony. Although rowac produced a wide variety of industrial furniture, including chairs, tables, tool boxes and cabinets, the company was best known for their industrial stools, which have become vintage classics. The first rowac stool was issued in 1905, with three iron legs and a round wooden seat. After the second world war, the rowac brand was changed to bemefa and the stools were unmarked. Presumably this is one of them. The iron plate under the seat was too far gone and we replaced it with a thick, sturdy round plate. This stool has been fully restored and provided with a layer of wax. H 60 / w 47 / d 45.
