Mid-century yellow and black ceramic cellar rat candle holder

This cellar rat candle holder dates from the 50s. Its enamelling half glossy (chick yellow inside), half matte (black glaze outside) is very beautiful. The shape and choice of colors are sharp and very graphic. This rendering of the enamels between matte and glossy is characteristic of the great ceramist of the mid-twentieth century fernand elchinger who loved these contrasting games. So are we!
