ADOLPHE DETEIX (Amplepuis, 1892-1967) Flowers in a Vase. Circa 1930. Oil on canvas. 45 X 37 cm (frame: 65 X 56 cm) Signed lower right: DETEIX Adolphe Deteix is, in my opinion, the best Lyon painter of the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Amplepuis, in the Loire region, 70 km north of Lyon, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, then at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Based in Paris, he always maintained a strong connection with the Lyon region. Moreover, the original frame of this painting, dating from the 1930s, bears the label of a Lyon framer, and therefore comes from a Lyon collection.
