Azilal carpets come from the region of Azilal, located in the remote and very difficult to access of the High Atlas mountains, about 200 km from Marrakech to the Morocco. Made originally for family use to deal with the cold of the High Atlas, they are handmade by the women of the region and are characterized by their ivory-cream background made of natural wool, and their very colorful patterns made grace vegetable dyes or basis of color cotton yarns.
