Wild charm and classic elegance for this beautiful oval mirror in the Louis XVI / Directoire style, dating from the first half of the 20th century. Its frame, with an aged gold / bronzed patina, is adorned with a delicate double frieze of beads (perlons) on its inner and outer borders, a timeless signature of 18th-century taste. The true soul of this piece is hidden at the back: its reverse is entirely covered with a superb original paper printed with a monochrome Toile de Jouy pattern. The pastoral scenes (carts, stone bridges, shepherdesses) are of great finesse. There is also a charming handwritten dedication from the period "to Danièle." Equipped with its original suspension ring for horizontal hanging. Condition: Good overall condition and very beautiful patina of the gilding. Please note, there are some signs of age that add to its charm as a vintage piece: a missing stucco on part of the outer beaded frieze (revealing the white plaster) and slight chips on the edge (see detail photos). The glass is in perfect condition, very clear.
