A rare Mid-Century modernist wall mirror from the 1950s, designed and manufactured by Carl Auböck in Vienna, Austria. The piece features a characteristically simple and minimalist design typical of Carl Auböck. The mirror consists of a triangular brass frame with three hooks, into which a trapezoidal mirror glass is inserted. The shape of the mirror glass tapers upward and is finished with generously rounded corners. It is partially mirrored, with transparent sections along the top and bottom. The mirror is in excellent condition. The brass frame shows a beautiful patina, which we have chosen to preserve. As the original glass was unfortunately heavily damaged and unusable, it has been replaced with a new piece that is an exact 1: 1 reproduction of the original. Accordingly, the mirror is now in excellent condition, free from damage or blind spots. Delivery includes the original Carl Auböck brass hook used to hang the mirror. Regarding the term “rare”: we generally try to avoid using it, as rarity is always relative. However, in this case, we can say with confidence that this mirror is indeed rare. 18“ wide, 31.5“ high. A striking and elegant piece—truly a pleasure to look into.
