The Massier family forms a dynasty of ceramicists whose activity dates back to the period preceding the French Revolution. They are recognised for their innovations, both artistically, through their experimentation with ancient techniques of glazed earthenware, and commercially, by using modern means such as advertising, sales catalogues, and postcards to attract customers in the South of France and internationally. Clément Massier is often considered the founder of the modern ceramic industry in Vallauris at the turn of the century. His cousin, Jérôme Massier, presents here a large fruit bowl made of woven glazed ceramic, in a colour resembling wine. These pieces were produced in a variety of colours and were all signed. Diameter: 33cm. Height: 12cm.
