This piece is a perfect example of classic Chinese export porcelain, known for its vibrant colours and intricate narratives. Detailed craftsmanship: Decor: The vase features hand-painted panels (medallions) alternating between vibrant court life scenes with figures in traditional costume and naturalistic motifs of blooming peonies, birds, and butterflies. Ornaments: The shoulder of the vase is adorned with four "Chilong" dragons sculpted in relief, finished in bright gilding. The neck is flanked by two Foo dog (Guardian Lion) handles, also gilded. Palette: Rich "Famille Rose" enamelling with a beautiful balance of emerald greens, deep pinks, and iron red accents.
