Modernist oil landscape by the swedish painter carin tham (1888-1967). It was painted by the artist in the 1942. The painting is hand-signed and dated in the lower right corner. Made in oil technique on panel. Framed. Carin tham, b. 1888, d. 1967, was a swedish painter. She studied art with paul poetzsch in dresden from 1921 to 1923 and with oskar kokoschka at the academy of fine arts in dresden. In lund, she started her own painting school in the early 1930s, which she later expanded to include an antiques and crafts shop called little boden. In sweden, she made her debut with a solo exhibition at skånska konstmuseum lund, 1924, followed by solo exhibitions at ystad 1929, malmö town hall 1938, sds hall 1944, exposéhallen malmö 1949 and arbetets konstwall in lund 1963. She exhibited with emil westman in eslöv 1924 and together with erik arosenius in svartbrödraklostret in lund 1946 and with carl bernhard neuman and a olsson in örebro in 1939. From 1927 she participated in many exhibitions of the skåne art associations and in the exhibitions of the lund artists' guild in 1949–1951, as well as in an exhibition of 20 other swedish artists in new york in san francisco in 1940. Her art consists of portraits, still lifes and landscapes made in oil, gouache, tempera or crayon. Among the portraits are those of the authors anders österling and elin wägner, and professor asta kihlbom. Tham is represented in malmö museum, småland museum, helsingborg museum, tomelilla museum, gullholmen art museum, the culture of the lund university art museum.
