Elisabeth dujarric de la rivière( 1930-2005) le silence 1970 oil on canvas countersigned on the chassis dimensions: 74 X 100cm l'insoumise de la peinture moderne et périgourdine! Elisabeth dujarric studied art in paris at the académie julian and the académie de la grande chaumière while studying art history at the sorbonne. In 1956, she joined the mythical artist's city la ruche in paris. The latter, threatened with destruction, is saved by elisabeth who founds a safeguarding association that will be chaired by chagall. She is part of the young painting movement initiated by paul rebeyrolle to whom she is very close. Rebellious artists who question modernity, abstraction, conceptualization to better reinvent figuration. From 1954 to 1961 she participated in the salon de la jeune peinture at the musée d'art moderne de la ville de paris. In 1957, she won the prize and became a figure of this movement. In 1967, she joined the claude levin gallery, an internationally renowned gallery managed by georges detais. He organized a solo exhibition, "tête à tête", in may 1968 in paris. This troubled period prevented the proper functioning of the exhibition and weakened the gallery. From the 70s, his paintings result from the indiscreet observation of the subject. Bodies spied on in intimacy, disproportionately magnified faces, obsessive autobiographical visions. Elisabeth dujarric identifies her paintings on the back of the canvas but rarely signs them on the face. Today, some of her works adorn the church of saint-sulpice d'excideuil, where she ended her life. In particular, we can see a large crucifixion. The young painting movement of the 1950s, unjustly forgotten by the history of french art, remains to be rediscovered, as does elisabeth dujarric who is an invaluable figure. His use of soft colors to transmit the physical body is quite I.
