Magnificent soup tureen both for its very original shape and for its pretty floral decoration. It comes from the bernardaud company (stamped below), porcelain maker in limoges since 1863. You can find the history of this house which still exists, on their website, it's fascinating. This company has often called upon famous designers for the shapes and decorations. And precisely, the shape of this service, called ariès, and therefore of this soup tureen, was created in the 70s, by raymond loewy (1893 -1986), famous designer known in particular for the logos he created (lu, shell, new man...) or for the design of several studebaker car models and, closer to home, for that of the iconic cocotte "la coquelle" for the le creuset brand. This soup tureen has a design that was very much in tune with the times in the 70s, taking up the codes of the space age period. As for this decoration, called thémis, it is magnificent, all in finesse: pretty flowers in blue and green tones, it was created by the design office of the bernardaud company in the years 1973-1975. Both pieces have the number 75, printed in very small, this is the number of the worker in charge of the piece. This soup tureen is in very good condition, no cracks or chips, just a small chip on the upper circular edge of the lid, almost invisible and a micro-stain on the internal rim of the soup tureen. This soup tureen measures 29 cm wide from one handle to the other, 25 cm in diameter, 10 cm high (for the container) and 15 cm high with the lid.
