We are proud to offer these two stunning rosewood sideboards as a matching pair. These mid-century Danish low furniture pieces were designed by the renowned Poul Hundevad, whose work is highly sought after by vintage furniture collectors. Having been carefully kept together in the same home for several decades with a single owner, their shared provenance gives them a remarkable history. The rosewood surfaces are beautiful, showcasing deep, organic grains that illustrate Nordic warmth. In excellent overall condition. Please refer to the photos for close-ups of the slight surface marks. A truly unique feature on both sideboards is a sun-patinated band running along the top; a lovely patina formed where shelves once protected the rosewood, creating an accidental stripe that tells their long story. Hundevad, a Danish cabinetmaker trained as an apprentice who founded his own company in 1947, infused his creations with a masterful blend of form and function. Each sideboard has lockable doors that open to practical, adjustable internal shelves as well as light birch storage trays, providing a beautiful contrast to the dark exterior. During careful restoration, the original plinth was replaced with solid teak conical tapered legs, mounted in the original fixings. These legs are dark-stained to harmonise with the rosewood, now giving the sideboards an elegant, elevated aesthetic that highlights their design and architectural quality. Having been delicately cleaned and oiled to revive the natural shine of the wood without erasing its character, this exceptional pair serves as both a functional storage solution and a significant investment in classic Danish design. They are ready to bring their timeless elegance, history, and captivating visual appeal to the interior of a discerning collector.
