Large jug / decorative pitcher in earthenware – Gien France

Large jug or decorative pitcher in glazed earthenware from the Gien factory (France), hand-decorated with a rich Renaissance-inspired design on a deep cobalt blue background. Baluster shape with a globular body and flared neck, wide and elegant handle. Finely executed polychrome decoration featuring mythological figures, scrolls, foliage, ornamental motifs, and geometric friezes. Intense midnight blue background highlighting ochre, green, cream, and blue tones. Very detailed and harmonious decorative work, typical of the craftsmanship of the Gien pottery. Stamp under the base: GIEN – FRANCE – hand-decorated (castle logo). Height: 30 cm, diameter at the widest point: approximately 20–22 cm. Very good overall condition, no visible cracks or chips, slight signs of use under the base, shiny glaze and well-preserved decoration.
