Magnificent pair of Z-shaped armchairs, model SK250 (or SK40), designed by Étienne-Henri Martin for the publisher Steiner. No stamp or label present due to age, but the shape of the armrests is a signature in itself. A centrepiece of French modernism (circa 1937-1950), this model is recognisable by its bold architectural line and dynamic solid wood armrests. The structure has been sanded to reveal the natural grain of the wood and treated with a high-resistance matte varnish to maintain the raw appearance and clarity of the wood, while ensuring lasting protection. These armchairs have undergone meticulous renovation by a professional furniture restorer. Original comfort: The Pullman spring cage suspension has been preserved and stabilised, offering a unique suspended seat and high-end comfort. Traditional stuffing with horsehair for better durability and a lower carbon footprint. They are upholstered in a chenille upholstery fabric resembling velvet with a "faux uni" pattern (Model Guayaquil), in a deep brown colour. The texture adds a chic ethnic vibe that perfectly highlights the light wood. DIMENSIONS: Width: 61.5 cm (Seat: 54 cm between armrests) Total height: 76 cm (Seat height: 39 cm) Depth: 65 cm (Seat depth: 57 cm).
