This stunning and extremely rare pair of lounge chairs was designed and produced by Gelderland, The Netherlands, 1964. A striking example of Dutch modernist design, these chairs combine architectural clarity with an inviting sense of lightness and comfort. The design is defined by a sculptural chromed steel frame, forming clean geometric lines that give the chairs a floating, almost graphic presence. The seats and backrests are handwoven in warm-toned wicker, creating a beautiful contrast with the cool metal structure while adding texture and visual warmth. The open weave allows the form to remain airy and transparent, perfectly balancing structure and softness. Subtle details, such as the integrated armrests and the precise way the wicker is tensioned within the frame, highlight the thoughtful craftsmanship behind the design. The chairs are comfortable, supportive and visually elegant from every angle. Both chairs are in very good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use, contributing to their authentic character. A timeless and versatile set, ideal for modern, minimalist or mid-century interiors, and a fine representation of progressive Dutch design from the 1960s.
