Large decorative onyx and gold metal cassolette, Italy 1960s-70s.

Large decorative onyx cassolette with multicoloured veining, associated with a gilded metal mount, Italy, vintage from the 1960s-1970s. Elegant baluster shape on a pedestal, topped with a flared neck flanked by two leaf-shaped handles with neoclassical decoration. The solid body has no opening but contains a screw inside the "neck"; it is likely an old lamp base element or an object originally designed as an ornamental piece. Maximum height at the handles is 36cm, 32.5cm at the neck, width 18cm at the handles, diameter of the base 9cm. Very good overall condition, with a slight patina on the gilded metal and discreet signs of use. Weight approximately 2 to 3kg.
