Description
Pietro Chiesa 'Luminator' lamppost for Fontana Arte. Marked with the label Fontana Arte. Originally designed in 1933 and produced by Fontana Arte, this iconic design retains a personality so modern that its date of birth is hard to believe. A long, narrow stem opens in an upward motion to catch an upturned cone that hides the light source. Nickel finish. Pietro Chiesa (Milan 1892-Paris 1948) is known for his work that combines extreme modernity with exceptional technical ability. In 1932, Pietro Chiesa was asked by Gio Ponti to share the artistic direction of the newborn Fontana Arte, a role that allowed him to fully express his creative genius by designing more than a thousand different objects (furniture, tables, lamps, stained glass, art objects, etc.). Some of these pieces have taken their place in the history of design and are still produced today by Fontana Arte, such as the Lamppost Luminator, (1933). Height: 190 Diameter: 30
