Magnificent and extremely rare solid oak sideboard attributed to the famous French sculptor and cabinetmaker Joseph Savina around 1950. Joseph Savina, based in Tréguier in Brittany, collaborated on numerous projects with his friend Le Corbusier and supported the modernist movement of the post-war reconstruction in the late 1940s and early 1950s by reinterpreting Celtic furniture, inspiring brutalism. This sideboard features 2 independent doors (locks replaced), 2 1/2 removable shelves, and 2 internal drawers, and is emblematic of his work. Notable are the superb front legs of full height with fluted columns, the beautiful sculptural work on the doors, and the low side plinths echoing the top. Width 192 cm, depth 52 cm, height 97 cm. In excellent condition (with some insect holes on the back that have been treated), ultra high quality, this sideboard will add an exclusive touch to your decor, in a living room or dining room.
