Spectacular table lamp or floor lamp in red-dyed and lacquered goatskin parchment, representing a bird holding a carriage lamp pointing upwards in its beak. Created by the italian designer aldo tura around 1950. Beautiful original condition, screw-in bulb (standard e27 model for led, see image). Aldo tura (1909-1963) is an italian designer renowned for his unique creations in furniture and decorative objects, marked by the innovative use of lacquered goatskin, in the manner of galuchat. A master of italian artisanal luxury, he was active from the 1940s to the 1960s, he embodied artisanal refinement and post-war italian glamour. The iconic use of goatskin: tura is distinguished by his bold use of goatskin, which he dyes in deep shades (burgundy, emerald green, tobacco brown) before lacquering it. This laborious process gives his creations a luxurious texture and a glossy finish. Present on rolling bars, lamps or tables, his works combine sensuality of materials and influences mixing art deco and modernism. A luxury craftsman: each piece by aldo tura reflects meticulous craftsmanship: careful finishing, bronze details and noble materials. Intended for an elite clientele, his creations reflect a sophisticated lifestyle and a search for unique decorative objects, far from standardized industrial production. In dialogue with his contemporaries: tura's works find echoes in those of carlo mollino, who shares his taste for sculptural forms, and gio ponti, master of italian design marrying modernity and tradition. Tura's experimentation with rare materials also recalls piero fornasetti, known for his daring decorative creations. The legacy of a visionary: despite a discreet notoriety, aldo tura's creations, rare and sought-after, are today prized by collectors.
