This lovely dark varnished wooden magazine rack, in a Scandinavian style, was designed by the Dutch designer Cees Braakman (1917-1995) for the furniture publishing house Pastoe in the 1960s. He would later become the director of the company, succeeding his father after the Second World War. Cees Braakman was largely inspired by Herman Miller and the Eames couple, whom he discovered during a trip to the United States, returning with a taste for furniture with simple, clean lines that adapts to smaller spaces, apartments, and more frequent moves. Once folded, this magazine rack takes up little space. It is in generally good condition, stable and solid, but has some signs of its sixty years: a few small marks, stains, or abrasions. When unfolded, it measures approximately 45 cm in width, 55 cm in height, and 29 cm in depth. When folded, its dimensions are 59 cm by 45 cm by 6 cm.
