This Art Deco wardrobe by CWS Ltd is a rare and elegant piece, typical of English craftsmanship from the 1930s. With its walnut veneer arranged in a butterfly pattern, its authentic charm, and careful renovation, it perfectly embodies the spirit of English antiques: simple lines, noble materials, and finely crafted woodwork. An ideal piece of furniture to enrich an interior with a vintage touch and a strong character. Materials: walnut (butterfly veneer). Features: this English Art Deco wardrobe opens with two doors, each featuring a lovely brushed metal handle. The right door has a lock with a key, which is functional. Inside, the wardrobe is organised into two columns: the left one has a hanging rail, while the right one offers four angled shelves. Brand history: the acronym CWS stands for Co-operative Wholesale Society, a British organisation founded in the 19th century. Initially dedicated to supplying goods for the network of English cooperatives, CWS Ltd has developed several branches over time, including the production of utility and domestic furniture for communities, public establishments, and homes. CWS furniture is particularly distinguished by its robust and functional construction, the use of noble materials, and a simple yet quality style, typical of mid-century English furniture. This wardrobe is a beautiful illustration of that: a piece that is both practical, elegant, and durable, designed to withstand the test of time. Renovation: this Art Deco wardrobe is in superb original condition. Its minor blemishes on the veneer have been worked on to conceal them (on the top of the right door). The wardrobe has been fully washed, then nourished and protected with linseed oil, and finally polished. Dimensions: L92 X D56 X H175. Interior: L90 X D51 X H152. Left column: L54. Right column: L34. Shelf spacing: 31.
