Superb and rare pair of square plates (or large serving dishes) in porcelain from Paris, probably dating from the mid-19th century (Napoleon III era, Empire/Restoration style). These octagonal pieces are richly decorated. The rim features a deep cobalt blue colour, adorned with gold leaf motifs: stylised leafy garlands, scrolls, and volutes typical of neoclassical ornamentation. The centre of the plate, in white porcelain, is simply enhanced with a circular gold line. The edge is also highlighted with a gold frieze. The quality of the gilding and the fineness of the porcelain testify to the craftsmanship of Parisian manufacturers of this period. The reverse is in white porcelain, with a visible impressed mark (difficult to read, possibly a manufacturer's or shape mark). These plates are in excellent condition, with very well-preserved gilding, free from cracks or chips. They can be used for serving (petits fours, mignardises, fruits) or displayed as refined decorative elements. Dimensions: Side: 22.3 cm. Characteristics: Type: Pair of square plates / Serving dishes.
