In the wake of European modernism, the cantilever chair emerged as a formal revolution during the interwar period. This set of four Italian cognac leather chairs, model "Cantilever" attributed to Marcel Breuer, is part of this lineage, with production dating from the 1970s. Each chair rests on a tubular chrome steel structure forming a cantilever base, an emblematic signature of Bauhaus vocabulary. The seat, backrest, and armrests are upholstered in original cognac leather, stretched and held in place by visible metal fastenings. The flexibility of the leather contrasts with the rigidity of the structure, creating that characteristic balance between comfort and architectural rigor. The leather exhibits a beautiful, homogeneous, and warm patina, revealing the natural nuances of the material. The set is first-hand, acquired in the early 1970s in Milan, a detail that enhances its authenticity and historical coherence. The chrome structures are in very good condition, shiny and stable.
