Brutalist coffee table dating from the 1950s, made from a thick slice of elm burl mounted on three cylindrical solid wood legs. The circular top reveals all the beauty and complexity of the burl pattern, with its characteristic knots and concentric rings. The slice retains its natural edge with the bark partially preserved, creating a textured contrast with the polished surface. This piece perfectly illustrates the post-war brutalist aesthetic that celebrated raw materials and organic forms. The three solid legs, carved from wooden branches, firmly anchor this table while giving it a light and balanced silhouette that almost seems to float in space. Discovered in the centre region, this table with its natural lines will ideally serve as a coffee table, a sofa end table, or even an original bedside table in a contemporary or vintage interior. Its sculptural character makes it a conversation piece that is sure to attract attention. The table has an exceptional patina that has retained the natural light hue of the elm, without the yellowing often seen on pieces from this period. The surface of the top has been carefully preserved, highlighting the veins and intricate patterns of the elm burl. As seen in the photos, the wood has some natural splits characteristic of tree slices that testify to the authenticity of the piece. The structure remains perfectly stable and functional, and the whole is in remarkable condition for its age. Dimensions top diameter: 68 cm total height: 56 cm top thickness: 10 cm weight: approximately 25 kg.
