Watercolour. View dimensions: 22.5 cm X 30.5 cm. Unsigned and attributed to guérin de belleit renée jeanne. White vase and anemone. Guerin charvet renée (1880-1961) - girl's name guerin de beillet. Officer of the legion of honour, cross of war 7 citations, holder of the english red cross and the epidemic medal. Military nurse in 1914-1918. Renée guérin-charvet founded the national association of wounded and mutilated war nurses (aibmg) in 1923. The aibmg was a small association with only about 350 members, but fought to gain influence and audience for their claims. She also enjoyed a long life and was still active after the second world war. Guerin-charvet was the daughter of a well-decorated general and disabled war nurse. After the war, she was an active member of the union of french women decorated with the legion of honour, whose potential propaganda value for suffragettes and feminists was noted by louise weiss in the 1930s: "her decorations, wounds and professions of faith touched many hearts." Nurse again during the second world war.
